Neutral home decor doesn’t have to be boring and Shannon of AKA Design is a shining example that neutrals can be quite exciting in the home. She artfully mixtures textures and shades to create a beautifully classic, functional, and charming home. From time to time, she adds a punch of color for fun. I love her cottage style home and her DIY projects are so inspiring. Ready to take a look?
In the living room, Shannon has combined soft couches and pillows with an industrial style coffee table and shelves. Did you notice the numbered crates on the shelves? What a clever way to hide items in a stylish way.
When it comes to Shannon’s cottage style dining room … I have serious dining room envy! She paired metal chairs with a rustic table, and then had the genius idea to hang a sparkly chandelier overhead. Her style is truly creative.
The white kitchen is equally as charming.
The warm wood floor grounds this room that’s filled with sunlight.
I love what Shannon did with her breakfast bar, from the stools to the bead board on the cabinets to the “EAT” sign. And of course, Shannon added a touch of surprise with a chandelier. She has a great eye for design.
Fun pillows add pops of color to Shannon’s family room.
A painted chest serves as a coffee table for the comfy sectional.
Gorgeous wood planks serve as a DIY head board in Shannon’s master bedroom. I don’t know if I ever told Shannon, but my daughter used her bedroom as inspiration in making her own wood headboard. She even added a burlap banner similar to Shannon’s.
Did you notice how the wall paper mimics the pattern of the bedspread?
The boy’s room is peaceful in blues (boys need a calming factor in their bedrooms).
In the girls room, a fun shade of pink colors the bunk beds.
The wood floors add a bit of drama in the room and make the whites pop.
Shannon has been a busy girl in her home. The bathroom is yet another room that’s received a makeover. I love how Shannon placed the cabinet hardware in the middle of the doors.
