Colonial Farmhouse: Charming Home Tour

An 18th century farmhouse resides on the site of the town’s first 1635 meeting house. Lovingly and beautifully restored by Carpenter & MacNeille, the colonial farmhouse retains its original charm yet functions efficiently for today’s busy living. I think you’ll love how old and new come together to create a comfortably appealing home.

Step inside to be greeted by a classic brick floor and Colonial blue-painted trim. A primitive bench provides a place to put on shoes before heading outdoors while a vintage chest of drawers provides storage.

The renovated kitchen of this Colonial farmhouse retains its historic flair while providing all the modern-day conveniences desired by any chef. The kitchen island provides glass-front door storage on the side facing the dining area, while a functional work area complete with sink resides on the other side.

An industrial stove, double oven, and custom cabinetry provide creature comforts for whipping up a gourmet meal. The refrigerator is concealed with a custom door that blends seamlessly into the rest of the kitchen.

Bar stools take up residence at the far end of the kitchen island while a vintage fireplace adds ambiance and warmth. I have always wanted a fireplace in the kitchen and this one doesn’t disappoint.

Custom cabinetry surrounds the fireplace and provides additional storage for dishes and cooking utensils. I love the brick surround on this Colonial farmhouse fireplace.

You’ll find another beautiful fireplace in the Colonial-style dining room. Classic blue coats the woodwork and a built-in alcove creates a place to show off vintage serving pieces.

Another brick surround fireplace with custom woodwork can be found in the home’s living room. Painted trim work in Colonial colors paired with white walls is commonly found in historic homes from this era. Curtain-free windows allow the beauty of the trim and mullioned windows to shine through.

The other end of the living room features a beautiful tufted couch and complementary wing chair in a pleasing pattern. A large glass-enclosed coffee table provides a safe space to display collectibles.

You’ll find yet another fireplace in the master bedroom. A vaulted ceiling and decorative windows create a bright and airy bedroom. Isn’t the striped settee adorable?

The master bathroom features Shaker-style cabinetry painted a pale blue. Marble counter tops add a touch of elegance.

The lucky homeowners enjoy a modern-day claw foot tub beneath a sunny window. Note how the tiled floor echoes the pattern of the leaded window.

What every home should include … a wine tasting room! Wouldn’t it be fun to invite friends over for a wine and cheese tasting party in this space. I love this space and now I want a wine cellar in my next home (I have friend who has a wine cellar and it’s amazing).
