Halloween! It’s a fun day that kicks off the season of holidays! This year I decided to do more to make this spooky event fun for the kiddos in our neighborhood. I decorated baby boo pumpkins to set out on the porch. See how to make your own!
I confess I’ve never attempted to carve a baby boo pumpkin. I thought it’d be easier to make little faces with felt.
Start with clean baby boos and try to select shapes that have a tall enough surface for a face.
Using a sharp pair of scissors, cut out various eye shapes and mouths. Think of how you’d carve a pumpkin and use similar facial expressions. Then simply use a hot glue gun to adhere the black felt to the pumpkin.
I found these sweet little black and white hats at the craft store, along with black piping and polka dot bows. Before adding the hat to the baby boo, you’ll probably need to shorten the pumpkin stem by cutting it with a sharp knife.
Hot glue the piping to the bottom of the paper party hat. Then apply a thin line of hot glue to the bottom edge of the piping and lightly press the hat onto the baby boo, holding in place for a few seconds until adhered.
Decorated baby boo pumpkins are pretty easy to make and less messy than carving a pumpkin.
This wee one has a black lace doily on the bottom of its party hat to resemble a witch’s hat. I cut a hole in the center of the doily (to accommodate the short stem) and then hot glued the doily to the bottom of the hat. Then I simply hot-glued the hat onto the pumpkin. You can add other embellishments like bow ties, if desired.
My decorated baby boo pumpkins are going on the windowsill on the front porch to greet trick-or-treaters.
