Glitter Star DIY Ornaments

When it comes to Christmas, I tend to be a traditionalist. I like old-fashioned decorations with lots of greenery draped around the house. I love twinkling lights, shiny ornaments, and anything with glitter! Today I’m sharing how to make Glitter Star DIY ornaments as part of a fun celebration called the 31 Days of Handmade Christmas. Each day during the month of October, a blogger is sharing a handmade ornament. You can see all of their holiday inspiration at the end of this post. But for now, let me share my glittery star ornaments made from paper.

Glitter Star DIY Ornaments

My Glitter Star DIY ornaments are made from scrapbook paper using origami, the Japanese method of folding paper to create shapes and figures.

Glitter Star DIY OrnamentsI’ve always held a fascination for origami … how a flat piece of paper can be turned into something beautiful just by folding it.  I used 2 different scrapbook papers to create my star ornaments, and sprinkled them with glitter.

The video below shows the complete steps for folding the stars.

You can pause the video while you’re making your folds, which makes it easier to follow.  You need to cut your paper in the shape of a pentagon. You can simply Google “pentagon shape” to find a shape that you can print and then trace onto your decorative paper, book page, or even a sheet of music.

Glitter Star DIY OrnamentsOf course, you don’t have to hang them. You can set them around the house in your holiday vignettes for a bit of sparkle and glam!
