The holidays are over and you deserve a break after all the cooking, cleaning, decorating, and shopping. What better way to unwind and relax than with a luxurious soak in the tub? Rose bath salts make the experience even better, with their intoxicating fragrance and therapeutic benefits. You’ll find it’s easy to make your own bath salts with just a few simple ingredients.
To make your own rose bath salts you’ll need Himalayan salt, essential rose oil, and rose petals. You’ll also want to find pretty glass jars to store the fragrant salts.
You can use Epsom salt in lieu of Himalayan, but the Himalayan salt has a pretty soft pink tint that’s perfect for rose bath salts.
Rose oil is more expensive than most essential oils, but its fragrance is worth every penny. A lot of roses are needed create the oil; thus the hefty price tag. Rose oil is known to alleviate depression, moodiness, and PMS. It’s also fabulous for your skin.
Dried rose petals are best for making rose bath salts, but you don’t have to wait for your roses to fade and dry.
Spread fresh rose petals in a single layer on a paper towel layered on a plate. Cover with a second paper towel and microwave for 45 to 60 seconds.
The microwave removes the moisture from the petals.
While the petals are cooling, add the essential rose oil to the Himalayan salt. Add a few drops at a time and mix well using a metal spoon. Wooden and plastic spoons absorb the oil and will be ruined. Repeat until you’ve added 20 drops to 2 cups of salt.
Once the salt and oil is mixed well, stir in the dried rose petals. This is the perfect project for lifting your spirits; the scent of roses is sure to brighten your day.
Pour your rose bath salts into pretty glass jars.
Secure with a lid and add a pretty lace bow, if desired. To use, add one to two tablespoons to a warm bath. Another option is to add a couple teaspoons to a bowl of warm water. Mix well and let the rose fragrance fill the air. This works best in a smaller room, like a bedroom, with the door shut.
Rose bath salts are perfect for your own bath, but they also make great gifts. I gave some to both my daughters to enjoy.
