Creating a spec house that would appeal to multiple kinds of families, designer Joan Enger of J. PATRYCE DESIGN put together a stylish home rooted in a subtle palette and restrained aesthetic. When Enger first approached the 100-year-old home, it had not been lived in for 50 years — the front door was covered in graffiti, and the roof had a hole the size of a car. Enger worked on the house for 17 months with a developer (who was also her husband), transforming the property into a comfortable and classic home where the design doesn't feel heavy-handed.
