I’m sitting at the dining table with the window open and spring breezes wafting in. Looking out, I see tiny violets jumping out of the grass ready to party with Mother Nature. I love this time of year. Another thing I’m quite fond of is beautiful homes, like the one we’re touring today. Tara’s house on Lehman Lane is a welcoming, century-old soul that’s been scrubbed with recent renovations and updates. I think you’re going to love it!
You know any home with a red front door is going to be a pleasure to tour. In both feng shui and early American history, a red door means “welcome.” In Scotland, homeowners would paint their front door red to show they had paid off their mortgage. Either way, red doors are a happy tradition.
Tara’s traditional style living room is airy, bright, and comfortable. A gorgeous fireplace takes center stage and comfy seating invites you in to linger a while. Such a pretty space!
Tara’s galley kitchen is warm and beautiful with the various shades of wood tones. A large bay window above the sink allows plenty of light to flow in. I imagine Tara must love standing at the sink looking out the window. Note how the red dog food tin echoes the red of the patterned rug runner.
Tara painted the walls in her dining room a bold color, providing just the right touch of drama and contrast. An Oriental rug underfoot adds color while an over-sized hutch at the far end of the room contributes plenty of storage space.
Another fireplace graces Tara’s warm and cozy family room. Seeing her rustic coffee table makes me want to find something similar for my own family room. Tara painted the door inserts red to add color; patterned pillows repeat the rich, red hue.
An elegant sleigh bed takes center stage in the expansive master bedroom … with another fireplace! There’s no going cold in Tara’s stunning home.
I love the dark navy color of the walls in one of Tara’s son’s bedroom. It works so well with the white painted trim and light wood floors. An oar above the headboard fits perfectly under the eaves.
You’ll find more under-the-eaves appeal in Tara’s daughter’s bedroom, as well. Tara painted the 4-poster bed and it pops beautifully against the pink walls and light-colored color. This is such a happy room that any young girl would love to dream in.
Gorgeous century-old home, don’t you think? Be sure to visit Tara at Lehman Lane. She has great tips on all her DIY projects and you’ll be amazed at how much she’s transformed this inviting home into a comfortably appealing place to live!
