Adept at bringing the past into the present and working at a scale that ranges from cozy cabins to grand brick and shingled estates, architect Wade Weissmann of Wade Weissmann Architecture understands the American vernacular like few others, and makes it work for 21st-century living. His new book, Heirloom Houses (Gibbs Smith), features 15 projects by the Milwaukee-based architect, including this house on Big Cedar Lake in Wisconsin, designed for a family passionate about competitive rowing, with interiors by Chicago-based Beth Wangman of i4design.
